This installation presents three spikey aluminum pieces. The work on the pedestal is an abstract form loosely representative of a heart. The two pendants displayed above were tediously filed to create sharp spikes around the edges. The pendants in this series are emblematic of everyday objects that are precious to us. They act as a sort of decorative armor. We find comfort in objects such as a necklace that is worn every day or a keychain that is always seen. These things are expressive of who we are and how we choose to present ourselves. We often find an even deeper connection to the objects when they are handmade.
